You want to build a box from a sheet of paper with dimensions 8.5 inches x 11 inches by cutting squares from each corner of the paper and folding up the sides. In this laboratory, you will explore the changes of the shape and volume of the box with respect to the size of the square which is cut out of each corner. You will determine a function that relates the volume of the box to the size of the square. You will also explore the relationship among the length, width, and height of the box.
